Dr. Frederick Morse, President, Morse Associates, Inc.  
Fred Morse first became involved in renewable energy issues in the late 1960s, when he served as Executive Director of the
White House Assessment of Solar Energy as a National Energy Resource.  In the early 1970s, he designed the United States’s
first renewable energy program, a strategy that has effectively guided US activities for almost a half century.  

Since then, Dr. Morse has become an international leader in promoting the development and use of renewable energy
technologies.  Working in senior level positions at the US Department of Energy in the late 1970s and 1980s, he played a
significant role in defining and managing major solar energy research, development and commercialization programs with
annual budgets of up to $250 million.  In addition, he served as the US representative to various international management and
advisory bodies.  He has also served on the Board of Directors of the American Solar Energy Society, the International Solar
Energy Society, the Sustainable Buildings Industry Council and the Solar Energy Industries Association.

Over the years, Dr. Morse has gained an international reputation in the energy field as an individual who brings clear thinking,
innovative and creative ideas, and exceptional organizational skills to the array of challenges facing industry and government
today in renewable energy and environmental issues.

Frederick Morse is a graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (B.S., Mechanical Engineering), Massachusetts Institute of
Technology (M.S. , Nuclear Engineering), and  Stanford University (Ph.D., Mechanical Engineering).
