Jerry Stokes is Vice of Strategy and Business Development at Suntech Power International one of the world’s largest solar PV companies. Jerry first started work in the PV industry over 20 years ago. In his career he has been deeply involved in the sales and marketing of PV as well as new and emerging technologies for energy storage, building and industrial automation and fuel cells.

Suntech is committed to significantly reduce the cost of PV electricity through leading research, development, commercialisation and mass production. As a result PV generated electricity will within 2 -3 years reach parity with the end user cost of conventionally generated electricity in some countries. Progressively PV will be able to play a very significant part in reducing GHG emissions as we move to a very low carbon economy and in ensuring reliable energy access for all. Jerry has been actively participating on behalf of Suntech working with leading groups such as the UN Secretary General’s Advisory Group on Energy and Climate Change, The Copenhagen Climate Council, The Climate Group, The Prince of Wales’s Corporate Leaders Group on Climate Change and EPIA the European Photovoltaic Industries Association.

Jerry Stokes has an Honours degree in Metallurgy from Brunel University, England.
